BlackBerry 9860 Torch Hitting Store Shelves

BlackBerry Torch 9860The new BlackBerry 9860 Torch is currently hitting store shelves worldwide. As far as I can see, it is not yet available for ordering from Amazon (my personal favorite) at the moment of writing. But other retailers such as CrackBerry.com and Mobiles.co.uk are selling it already. The new BlackBerry is one of the first BlackBerry phones to get a decent display size… something that BB fans worldwide have eagerly anticipated.

The 9860 Torch drops the conventional qwerty keyboard and replaces it with a large all touch display. The 3.7” diagonal size of the screen is not quite on par with other modern smartphones such as the Galaxy S II and the Sensation, but it is still an enormous leap forward for RIM.

The BlackBerry 9860 Torch is powered by a 1.2GHz processor. It runs the latest version of RIM’s own operating system BB OS 7. The new BB OS has improved browsing and much better graphics. The Liquid Graphics technology enables the 9860 Torch to render graphics more smoothly, which makes for a much better user experience.

The 9860 Torch weighs 135 grams and at 120 x 62 x 11.5mm, this is RIM’s thinnest BlackBerry phone as of yet. The 5 megapixel camera with its auto focus ability, is also a very nice addition. The new Torch has 4GB of storage capacity and 768MB of working memory. With microSD cards, you can expand its storage capacity up to 32GB.
