LG To Release Optimus Pad And Optimus 3D

01 - lg optimus 3dLG is about to release its two hot, new mobile devices! On one hand, we have the Optimus Pad, which is a tablet that is going to compete with various other tablet devices already on the market. On the other hand, we have the Optimum 3D, which is a smartphone.

It is not yet known what the prices for LG’s Optimus mobile devices will be, but a Spanish flyer from The Phone House has made it clear that the Optimus Pad will cost around 850 Euros. And that’s the price in Euros. How many Dollars it will cost is anybody’s guess. But the price will likely be similar.

02 - lg optimus padLG has announced its Optimus Pad and Optimus 3D at the Mobile World Congress, which was in February. The Optimus 3D will have an autostereoscopic 3D screen (no extra head gear necessary) which is 4.3” big. The resolution will be a very acceptable 800×480 pixels.

At its heart, the Optimus 3D will be powered by a 1GHz-OMAP4 processor by Texas instruments. This processor has the PowerVR SGX450 GPU onboard. The software is based on Android 2.2. The Optimus 3D is able to record video in 3D.

03 - lg optimus padThe Optimus Pad can pretty much do the same as what the Optimus 3D can do. The big difference is in the screen size. Where the Optimus 3D has ‘only’ 4.3” worth of screen size, the Optimus Pad tablet has a whopping 8.9” screen.

The tablet’s 8.9” screen is also capable of displaying 3D imagery, just like the smartphone can. The tablet is also able to record 3D footage using its inbuilt camera. The screen’s resolution is 1280×768 pixels.

But a large 3D screen would be useless without a powerful graphics processor. That’s why the Optimus Pad incorporates Nvidia’s dual core Tegra processor, which runs at 1GHz.

LG has decided to use Android 3.0 Honeycomb as the operating system for the Optimum Pad.
