Earlier, Your Mobile Site reported about the T-Mobile smartphone 2011 roadmap, in which it was stated that a new, upcoming super phone known as the Samsung Hercules will be released in September.
Samsung would probably not have named its phone after one of the strongest mythical figures in the history of mankind, if the phone wasn’t able to live up to its name!
And as you might have guessed, Samsung’s new super smartphone does indeed have ridiculously impressive specifications.
While the performance of the Hercules phone will most likely be on par with the performance of the Galaxy S2, it stands out with its screen size.
Just today, the HTC Sensation 4.3 Inch has been released. The Galaxy S2 also has a 4.3 inch screen. And just when you’re impressed with 4.3 inch displays on smartphones, The Hercules comes along with its 4.5 inch display!
Samsung Hercules Super Smartphone Specifications
Without further ado… here are the phone’s specifications!
- 4.5 inch Super AMOLED display with a 480 x 800 resolution
- 1GB internal RAM, 16GB internal ROM storage and external microSD storage up to 32GB
- Qualcomm 1.2GHZ dual core APQ8060
- 8 Megapixel camera, led flasher, 1080p full hd video recording
- front facing camera for video calling
- HSDPA (42Mbps) and HSUPA (5.76Mbps)
- AWS Plus 850 / 1900MHz (for use on AT&T’s 4G network)
- NFC support
- Android 2.3 Gingerbread
- 5.16 x 2.76 x 0.37 inches in size
It is odd that Samsung opts for a Qualcomm processor in this phone, while they have a very fast and enviable Exynos line of processors themselves.
With displays already taking up most of the volume of a smartphone, how much bigger can smartphones really get? If you just keep on sizing up a smartphone, eventually you end up with a tablet!
Not that there’s anything wrong with a tablet. But you can’t put a tablet in your pocket. Previously, we have already asked ourselves…
Maybe they are and maybe they’re not. But we suspect that smartphones are going to remain fairly popular for the time being. Thanks to super smartphones such as Samsung’s Hercules, ofcourse!
Like with most high end smartphones that hit the market nowadays, there will likely be an unlocked version of the Hercules available for those that want it. However, this is pure speculation. We from Your Mobile Site are going to keep an eye on this new phone for sure.
